Picto — Psychotherapeutic Game

UQÀM

Picto is a psychotherapeutic game designed for children aged three and older. Using a cube, the child associates a word (for example, "mom") with five images to complete the cube's six faces. Through colors and symbols, the child expresses pictorially how they feel about the chosen word.

For example, if the word is "mom" and the child has positive feelings toward their mother, they might choose images such as a flower, a sun, or a rainbow. The game is intended to be used alongside a psychologist, who guides the discussion based on the child's visual choices.

Visual tools are known to capture and hold children's attention. By combining a playful, colorful aesthetic with non-verbal expression, Picto helps children communicate their emotions more openly in a therapeutic setting.

Created in collaboration with Éloïse Carrier.
